Jiangsu implements new measures to attract foreign tourists
Jiangsu has implemented a series of measures to enhance the experience of visa-free foreigners as China has extended the permitted their stay to 240 hours and Jiangsu boasts four ports to process entry-exit trips.
These measures were jointly introduced by the provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Public Security Department, Department of Finance, Department of Transportation, State Taxation Administration, and the People's Bank of China Jiangsu Branch. Authorities explained the six policy measures at a press conference held by the provincial government on December 19.
Firstly, Jiangsu will improve its international flight network, focusing on global aviation hubs, key countries involved in the "Belt and Road" initiative, and major tourist source countries. The province aims to open new routes and restore flights to facilitate international travel to visit Jiangsu.
Secondly, the province will enhance payment services for inbound tourists, such as subsidizing transaction fees for businesses that accept foreign card settlements at key cultural and tourism venues, and expanding the application of the digital yuan.
Thirdly, Jiangsu will facilitate the use of various ID documents for foreign tourists and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in booking tours and hotels.
Fourthly, Jiangsu will optimize the supply of tourism products and services. This includes strengthening promotions on key international OTA platforms, enhancing tourism consultation services, and improving foreign language services.
Fifthly, Jiangsu will support travel agencies in attracting overseas tourists, such as providing incentives and subsidies for their international marketing efforts.
Sixthly, Jiangsu will enhance the quality and efficiency of departure tax refund services by expanding the number of stores and streamlining refund procedures.
