China, ROK bolster economic cooperation at exchange meeting in Yancheng

The China-S.Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Meeting was held in Yancheng on November 29. The event gathered over 300 leaders and guests, including business elites from both domestic and international arenas, at the China-Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park.

The exchange meeting focused on open cooperation and the development of high-quality productivity under the theme "Joining Hands for a Bright Future." It attracted representatives from numerous Fortune 500 companies and top 20 enterprises in various industries. During the event, a series of upstream and downstream projects within emerging industries, such as automobiles, new energy, new materials, and next-generation information technology, were successfully signed.

Yancheng is the city in Jiangsu Province with the closest ties to South Korea and the highest concentration of Korean-funded enterprises. The China-Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park is an innovative initiative at the national level to promote cooperation between China and South Korea. It is the only national-level platform for Korea-related collaboration in the Yangtze River Delta region. Located at the core of Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone, which serves as the industrial and urban integration hub of the China-Korea (Yancheng) Industrial Park, the city has deepened comprehensive cooperation with South Korea across multiple sectors. It has successfully attracted nearly 400 Korean-funded enterprises, including Kia, SK, and Mobis, creating a dynamic landscape where major Korean investments lead and small and medium-sized Korean businesses follow.

The city has established platforms such as the China-Japan-Korea (Jiangsu) Industrial Cooperation Demonstration Zone, the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Innovation and Development Area, and national-level foreign trade transformation and upgrading bases. From January to November this year, foreign capital utilization accounted for half of the city's total, while foreign trade imports and exports accounted for one-third.

On same day, the 2024 Yancheng-Korea Friendship City Cooperation Exchange Meeting was held. During the meeting, the "Yancheng-Korea Friendship City Green Low-Carbon Innovation Development Cooperation Initiative" was released, and a signing ceremony was conducted to establish a friendship city relationship between Yancheng and the Gyeyang District of Incheon Metropolitan City, South Korea.
