Jiangsu sees 310,000 entry and exit trips by foreigners in ten months
Border inspection agencies across Jiangsu Province have recorded about 310,000 entry and exit trips by foreigners in the first ten months of the year, marking a year-on-year increase of 118.2%.
Among the foreigners, Japanese and Republic of Korea people made 189,000 trips, accounting for over 60% and showing an 80.8% year-on-year increase.
Jiangsu has maintained close economic and trade relations with the two countries. The province is home to nearly one-fifth of China's total trade with Japan and about one-fifth of Japanese-invested companies in China. Jiangsu is also Republic of Korea's largest trading partner and top investment destination in China.
In 2024, Jiangsu has opened or resumed six air routes to Japan and Republic of Korea, bringing the total number of passenger and cargo air routes with the two countries to nearly 20. The province has seen an increasing number of visitors from Japan and Republic of Korea for business, cultural exchanges, tourism, exhibitions, and family visits.
From January to October this year, the province’s border ports reported 3.984 million inbound and outbound trips, an 86.6% year-on-year increase.
Starting from November 8, China has extended visa-free entry to citizens from nine additional countries, including Republic of Korea. On that day, Wuxi Airport welcomed the first batch of over 40 Republic of Korea travelers entering under this new policy, who completed the entry procedures smoothly in just half an hour.
