The China-France offshore wind farm in the sea off Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province, generated over 1.1 billion kWh of electricity in the first ten months of this year, according to Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd.
The electricity output is sufficient to meet the annual power consumption of 425,000 households and equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 808,000 tonnes.
With an 85-kilometer-long coastline and a tidal flat area of 100,000 hectares, Dongtai offers an ideal environment for wind energy development. The average wind speed at 100 meters offshore exceeds 7.5 meters per second, and there are more than 5,000 hours of effective wind speeds annually.
The China-France project includes 125 wind turbines and has a total installed capacity of 500 megawatts. Since its commissioning at the end of 2019 until the end of October this year, the project generated a total of 5.591 billion kWh of electricity, meeting the annual power consumption of 2.33 million families and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 7.419 million tonnes.
