In several cities of Jiangsu Province, the courier industry has been playing a crucial role in supporting the sales and supply chain management of manufacturing enterprises.
Data from 2023 shows that Jiangsu had launched 145 projects featuring integrated development of the courier and manufacturing sectors. In Jintan District of Changzhou City, smart warehousing solutions by courier companies have significantly boosted manufacturing production. In Danyang of Zhenjiang City, couriers are now managing real-time shipments directly from production lines.
Danyang, known as "China’s capital of glasses," is the world's largest lens production base, accounting for 70% of China's and 50% of the world's lens output. Modernized courier companies are helping deliver billions of lenses globally each year.
In recent years, the Danyang Postal Administration has encouraged courier companies to collaborate deeply with glasses production and sales businesses. Currently, all companies with annual sales exceeding 20 million yuan have integrated courier services into their workshops.
China Post Changzhou has also formed close partnerships with auto part manufacturers. For instance, Hoerbiger’s local factory partners with China Post Changzhou for warehousing, logistics and production services. Gao Jianzhong, deputy manager of China Post Changzhou’s logistics division, said that more than 120 postal employees were handling not only packaging and shipping but also assembly work for Hoerbiger.
Statistics indicate that logistics account for about 30% of total operating costs for small and medium-sized enterprises, making smart warehousing and logistics key to reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
A visit to SF Express' warehousing center in Jintan revealed rows of large shelves stacked with various goods, while unmanned forklifts were busy loading and unloading. This 120,000-square-meter center provides integrated services for manufacturing enterprises, including real-time picking based on customer order information, according to Chen Bing, head of SF Express’ Changzhou supply chain. The center helps eliminate the need for additional transfers and significantly improve shipping efficiency.
