Jiangsu’s ship export value hits 69 billion yuan in eight months, up 75.1%
Jiangsu exported various types of ships valued at 69.27 billion yuan ($9.7 billion) from January to August, marking a 75.1% year-on-year increase, according to Nanjing Customs.
During the first eight months of the year, private enterprises in the province exported ships worth 29.65 billion yuan, accounting for 42.8% of the total and achieving a year-on-year growth of 128.4%.
For example, Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. recently delivered a dual-fuel liquefied petroleum gas/liquid ammonia carrier with a tank capacity of 40,000 cubic meters, representing the company’s 12th large vessel delivered this year. With its outstanding design and production capabilities, this company holds about 20% of the global market share for 40,000-cubic-meter gas carriers powered by clean energy, and its order book is fully scheduled until 2028.
In addition to eco-friendly ro-ro vessels, bulk carriers produced in Jiangsu are also recognized for their green and intelligent performance. On October 8, the product R&D department of Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd. in Jiangyin City showcased five models of its 40,000-ton self-unloading bulk carriers. The company leads the global niche markets for self-unloaders, asphalt ships and multi-purpose vessels.
The high-quality development of Jiangsu's shipbuilding industry is also reflected in advanced auxiliary materials. Ru Jinyi, manager of PPG Coatings (Kunshan) Co., Ltd., said the company has exported over 100 batches of coatings this year, with a total value exceeding 10 million yuan, as demand for eco-friendly coating solutions is rising.
