Jiangsu launches aquatic biological survey
Jiangsu has launched a supplementary aquatic biological survey beginning in Changzhou City as part of a nationwide initiative.
Jiangsu has formed its provincial sampling team comprising environmental monitoring centers from Changzhou, Nanjing and Zhenjiang. Following relevant requirements, the team is collecting samples of benthic animals, attached algae, phytoplankton, and zooplankton. The China National Environmental Monitoring Center also assigned experts to conduct on-site supervision.
Previously, the China National Environmental Monitoring Center held a technical exchange on aquatic biological sampling in Changzhou, aiming to comprehensively enhance the monitoring capabilities of agencies at all levels and support conservation efforts. At the Changzhou Gehu Lake Ecological Observation and Experiment Center, experts demonstrated the entire sampling process, provided guidance to participants, and conducted performance assessments.
As one of the first national comprehensive ecological quality monitoring stations, the Changzhou center has established a local biological specimen library and a germplasm resource bank for aquatic ecological experiments and restoration.
