As the global electric two-wheeler market has grown rapidly amid efforts to reduce carbon emissions, Jiangsu exported 1.272 million electric motorcycles and bicycles in the first half of the year, an increase of 18.1% compared to the same period last year.
This robust growth follows the province becoming home to well-known manufacturers and intensifying efforts of overseas expansion, strategic cooperation, technological upgrades, and effective logistics solutions.
For example, Nanjing Sanye Jinying Motorcycle Co., Ltd. sells its electric two-wheelers to 64 countries and regions, including France and the UK, with the total value of its exports reaching 148 million yuan in the first half of this year.
With the smooth development of overseas business, the company has developed a long-range motorcycle particularly suitable for delivery as the rear seat can carry a heavy-duty box. It has also launched a lightweight motorcycle designed for easy replacement of worn parts, making it ideal for shared use.
Direct sales through cross-border e-commerce platforms have attracted trade companies. For instance, Wuxi Zhongxing Electric Vehicle Trade Co., Ltd. was among the first to provide E-bikes for leisure sport on platforms like Amazon and its own website. In the first five months of this year, the company’s exports in the form of cross-border e-commerce reached nearly 18 million yuan, marking a 6.7-fold increase year-on-year.
The implementation of RCEP has also boosted foreign trade. The tariff rate for electric two-wheelers imported from Wuxi Yadea to Indonesia decreased from 50% to 26%, which resulted in 20 million yuan of tariffs reduced over the first five months
