Located in the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), the Suzhou City Terminal of Shanghai Airport Authority now appears in travel apps with the 3-letter location code of SZO, marking its growing status as a point of departure and arrival for international flights.

The terminal has welcomed 12 airlines, serving 65,000 passengers and checking in 10,000 pieces of luggage, since its operation on May 19, 2023 amid the cooperation between the SIP and Shanghai Airport Authority, branded as AVINEX. It also provides services such as currency exchange.

The IATA airport code SZO enables passengers to easily search for flights to Suzhou despite the city not having a physical airport. For example, passengers can check in at the terminal, select their seats and complete luggage check-in, and then take a shuttle bus to transfer to Pudong International Airport to continue their flights. This service proves to be more cost effective and convenient for passengers traveling to or from Suzhou via Shanghai.
