The ninth session of the Standing Committee of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress reviews a report recently on the intelligent and digital transformation of the manufacturing industry.

The report highlights Jiangsu’s progress in the endeavor, with its manufacturing industry’s high-quality development index ranking first nationwide for three consecutive years. All 13 cities that have subordinate districts in Jiangsu were listed among China’s top 100 manufacturing cities in 2023. Jiangsu is also home to 97 of China’s first batch of 300 5G-powered factories. Suzhou has been included in the country’s pilot cities for SME digital transformation.

Jiangsu has prioritized backing for key manufacturing hubs and leading enterprises in industrial chains, encouraged SMEs to build intelligent manufacturing workshops, and also reduced barriers to initiating digital transformation.

Meanwhile, enterprises have received support in employing information technology systems and platforms to improve the digital management of design, production, operation, warehousing, and other procedures. A total of 243,000 5G base stations have been built in the coastal province.

Jiangsu also became the first province in China to enact a regional regulation on vehicle-to-everything and Intelligent connected vehicles. It promoted the high-quality development of national pilot zones for blockchain and AI innovation.

Furthermore, Jiangsu has continuously supported academic disciplines in universities designed to foster high-caliber talents and engineers to accelerate the digital transformation.
