The U.S. retail giant Costco will officially open a store in Nanjing on May 28.

The seventh Costco store in the Chinese mainland is located at No 3788 Jiyin Avenue in Jiangning District. Its shelves have already stocked with most supplies, except for fresh and ready-to-eat goods. Besides, it also features a three-floor car park and more than 100 electric car chargers.

Costco currently has more than 130 million members and operates over 870 stores across 14 countries and regions. In the mainland, the Nanjing store is the first to include a petrol station, which opened on May 9.

"Competition in the membership warehouse sector is high. With rising consumer awareness and changing concepts, only by providing good products and services can we achieve better development,” said Zhang Shuyun, general manager of Costco's Chinese mainland division.

She also expressed full confidence in the Nanjing warehouse, citing the city’s large consumer market, strong purchasing power and access to neighboring areas.
