Hundreds of activities mark Jiangsu's Charity Week

More than 350 activities took place during "Jiangsu Charity Week" held from September 4 to 10 this year, aiming to raise awareness about philanthropy and engage the broader community to help those in need.
The week featured a range of initiatives, such as online fundraising on September 9, recognizing role models, and connecting those in need with charitable resources.
For instance, at the start of the new semester, students at Zhongbao Town Central School in Xinghua City received school supplies donated by volunteers from the town’s community support center. These volunteers also left message to encourage the children and provided guidance on how to identify harmful reading materials and pirated books.
On September 5, the Wuxi Civil Affairs Bureau announced the first batch of charity landmarks across the city. Hua's Residence was built with the donation of 1,300-mu of land by Hua Jinsi and his son Hua Gongbi in the 10th year of Qianlong's reign (1745), which aimed to support widows, widowers and orphans within the Hua family.

These landmarks create a charity-themed travel route, helping residents and tourists to explore the city’s philanthropic history and culture.
Additionally, a charity carnival held at Qingming Bridge square from September 8 to 10 attracted tens of thousands of visitors. At a charity stall with 500 books, people could pay what they wished, with all proceeds going to the Liangxi District Community Charity Fund. Local resident Huang Xia bought a children's picture book, describing the activity as both fun and helpful.
In 2023, the Jiangsu Charity Federation has planned to commit 250 million yuan for 29 key projects, including those aimed at assisting autistic children and elderly people living alone.
