Namibian media delegation visits Suzhou amid 10th BRI anniversary
A delegation from mainstream media outlets in Namibia visited Suzhou on May 22 and 23 to closely observe the city’s development achievements from multiple perspectives.
The media organizations in the visit include Namibian Today, Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, New Era, Namibian Sun, and The Namibian. Suzhou was the delegation’s first stop in Jiangsu Province.
2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, and in 2018, China and Namibia signed Memorandum of Understanding on BRI Cooperation. In September 2019, Suzhou and Windhoek established a sister-city relationship, which strengthens bilateral ties between the two countries.
Talah Shiwayu, a member of the editorial board of Namibia Today and the head of the delegation, said Suzhou has implemented unique measures and gained rich development experience across various fields, which greatly inspired the visiting group. China and Namibia enjoy a profound friendship and it’s hoped that media outlets can enhance cooperation in telling stories about the Belt and Road Initiative and promoting Suzhou to the global community.
