Suzhou enhances China-Italy cultural bond with festival
The 2nd Sino-Italian Cultural Exchange Festival opened at Jinji Lake Scenic Area in the Suzhou Industrial Park on May 19.
Former Italian vice minister of foreign affairs Laura Fincato, who is also an Honorary Citizen of Suzhou, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony on behalf of Italy. She highlighted strong friendship between Suzhou and Venice since they became sister cities in 1980. She also said that as two ancient civilizations, China and Italy have fostered mutual understanding, peace, and a fruitful relationship built on mutual respect for cultural diversity.
The festival gained wide attention during its inauguration event in August 2022. It has now become a key program of Suzhou for promoting international exchange.
The festival will feature a series of programs, such as Italian pizza tasting, chocolate DIY, handicraft workshops, cultural and creative markets, Maserati and Ducati shows, and camping activities.
