Xishan District of Wuxi to host DANA’s research and manufacturing hub

Xishan District in Wuxi City will become home to DANA Asia-Pacific Vehicle Core Systems and Components R&D and Manufacturing Headquarters, according to an agreement signed on February 14.

Du Xiaogang, secretary of CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, and Chen Shenqiang, DANA China President attended the signing ceremony while Antonio Valencia, DANA President for Power Technologies and Global Electrification, delivered a video speech.

Located in the district’s Wanshan Lake Eco-City, the facility is the first of its kind for the company with a focus on new energy-related businesses. The research center will concentrate on products for new energy vehicles such as fuel cells, transmissions, axles, and thermal management technology.

Once completed, the project will become a core hub in the Asia-Pacific region, integrating R&D, manufacturing, supply chain management, sales, distribution and after-sales service capabilities and functions. It will also drive the development of upstream and downstream sectors in the industry chain.

Dana is one of the world's largest auto parts companies and an important supplier for many world-famous carmakers. In recent years, Wuxi has given priority to building itself into a powerhouse of auto and parts. Xishan has already attracted industry-leading enterprises such as Valeo, Gissing and Eaton, forming a full-fledged industry chain ecosystem integrating R&D, design, advanced manufacturing and sales services.

This new technological project has a good market prospect and will promote the industry development in the district and the city as efforts to pursue high-quality growth continue.
