Popular lantern market to reopen at Confucius Temple
The East Archway Street at Confucius Temple in Nanjing will bring back its much-loved lantern market after a suspension of three years.
Yan Qing, assistant general manager of Nanjing Qinhuai Lantern Cultural Develop Co Ltd, said active efforts are underway to prepare for the market’s reopening.
Qinhuai lanterns were still on sale around the Spring Festival in the past three years but at scattered venues and usually with a lukewarm response, Yan added.
There will be more than 60 stalls along the street and inheritors of the craft will also showcase their special creations in honor of the Year of the Rabbit, according to Yan.
Qinhuai lanterns in various styles and shapes will light up the street again and make it to brim with festive atmosphere as Lunar New Year comes.
