39 relics of Nanjing Defense Battle donated
The Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanjing received the donation of a batch of historical materials and objects related to the Nanjing Defense Battle in 1937.
The 35 items included a rusty shovel and bullets used by the Chinese soldiers at the Purple Mountain battlefield, donated by Zhang Dingsheng, who is a member of a team dedicated to finding traces of the battle and confirmed the relic after studying old photographs of military shovels then. The findings also included bullet parts from the weapons used by Japanese invaders.
Also among the memorial hall’s new collection this time are 19 items collected from Japan and the evidence of Japanese military "comfort women" system. They also included manuscripts of reminiscences written by those who participated the invasion.
The memorial hall has added a total of 952 items into its collection this year.
