East China’s Jiangsu Province opened its first Lotus Flower Festival in Pukou District of Nanjing City on July 3.

This festival will run until October, and it is also the third edition of Pukou’s lotus culture festival.

The main venue will host nine events including a light show, a beer and crayfish bazaar, an exchange, children’s drawing, and a fishing contest. the signature of the festival is a display of 800 species of lotus in bloom.

Qi Yuwei, secretary of the CPC Pukou District Committee, said Jiangsu has over 60 enterprises engaged in lotus production and they have promoted more than 300 new lotus varieties. Xigeng Lotus Hometown, in the district’s Yongning Town, has built the province’s largest destination to appreciate lotus flowers. The festival will help the site to attract more tourists.
