School exhibition commemorates Danish hero of Nanjing Massacre

Jiangsu Second Normal University organized an art exhibition to commemorate Bernhard Arp Sindberg, a Dane who helped save over 20,000 Chinese during the Nanjing Massacre, at Fuxing Elementary School of Nanjing City on June 1, also World Children’s Day.

The exhibition entitled " Sindberg’s Story in Jinling in 1937” showed digital watercolour works depicting his heroic deeds to protect the people of Nanjing, also called Jinling then, at all risks. The event aims to help students learn about history and pay tribute to the humanitarian spirit. Sindberg was just 26 years old when he worked at a cement factory in Nanjing. His arrival coincided with the Japanese invasion of the city in 1937.
