A groundbreaking electric flying car developed by researchers at Southeast University made its debut on January 1.

Unlike electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts that focus primarily on vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, the flying car integrates land and air transport functions, allowing it to switch between driving and flying modes.

The flying car measures 2.1 × 1.2 × 1.5 meters, with a maximum takeoff weight of 500 kg, a flight duration of at least 20 minutes, and a maximum flight altitude of at least 300 meters. When operating on the ground, the electric vehicle can reach a top speed of 60 km/h.

According to the project team, the design of a new system featuring higher power, longer battery life, and greater reliability is under way, with the flight duration expected to exceed 2 hours.
