Yangtze River Basin’s largest vehicle RO/RO terminal opens in Taicang

The Haitong Taicang Automotive Terminal, the biggest vehicle roll-on/roll-off (RO/RO) terminal in the Yangtze River Basin, officially began operations on December 12.
Designed with an annual throughput capacity of 1.3 million vehicles, the terminal can simultaneously accommodate two 70,000-tonne foreign trade ro-ro ships and one 3,000-tonne domestic trade ro-ro ship. With a land yard area of 860,000 square meters, the terminal has five automobile service centers offering integrated services such as storage, inspection, maintenance, and charging.
Dai Chenhao, deputy chairman of the new terminal, emphasized the terminal's strategic location at the confluence of rivers and sea, as well as its advantage in expressway-railway-waterway multimodal transport, can enhance the waterway transport of vehicles across the Yangtze River Delta region and the entire Yangtze River Basin.
As the largest automobile export port in Jiangsu, Taicang Port exported 437,300 vehicles from January to November this year, marking a year-on-year increase of 19.8%.
