Dongwu silk fabric, during its 80 years' history of production, has developed
three categories of pure silk, mixed woven silk and silk-like dacron with above
100 regular products. Dongwu mixed woven silk was recommended as Famous Product
of China silk industry.
Dongwu pure silk products consist of various kinds of silk and mixed silk
fabrics, typified by the taffeta which is the first product in silk industry
being awarded the State Quality Gold Medal and the ministry and provincial top
quality products Cengyun silk, Nanlin crepe and crepe de Chine.
With hard warp or weft twist to create crepe effect, these fabrics have good
air permeation after refining and dyeing They are comforitable to wear, suitable
for underwear and garment, and have a stable share at international market.
Dongwu mixed woven silk products are typified by the "four satins and one
brocade", namely tapestry satin, Soochow satin. Jinyu satin. kelly satin and
Sung brocade, which have been honored as ministry or provincial excellent
products, and also by the traditional products such as tapestry satin quilt
cover and mixed shameuse which have been ever popular for more than 80 years.

years. The improved satin and brocade chiffon, in particular, with its unique
style and wide wear functions attracts remarkable interest throughout the world
and is exported to the US, Japan, Korea, western Europe, Southeast Asia, Hong
Kong, Macao, etc.
The newly developed high-tech silk-spandex stretch products have avoided the
weaknesses of pure silk in elasticity, moldability, wash-and-wear, and wrinkle
resistance. These top-grade silk fabrics are the first choice of fashion
materials. Dongwu silk-like dacron products include the Ministry and Provincial
Top Quality Products such as nylon shoize, Qunle crepe and Qiuyue satin.
These fabrics are characterized by their smooth hand feeling, good draping
property and wrinkle resistance. They have wide range of applications. The nylon
shoize, for example, can be used to make umbrellas, rain cloaks, cases and bags
after water proof coating treatment Hard warp or weft twisting gives the fabric
good air permeation and thus makes it suitable for women's dress and suits.
Silk-like satins have bright colors, suitable for making wedding dresses and
decorative articles. The recently developed silk-like, wool- like and linen-like
products show excellent effects and have a prosperous future.
