Liu Yong, the driver of an ordinary Line 611 bus in Nanjing City, stood out for his cooking skills he harnessed in more than 20 years. The former chef created vivid artistic food after jaw-dropping stunts with kitchen knife in an event to mark Liqiu, or the Start of Autumn, the 13th of the 24 solar terms on the Chinese lunar calendar.

Liu Yong studied nutrition in a vocational school before working in the catering industry for more than 20 years. However, he never liked the fast-paced life, so in 2016 he quitted his job to become a bus driver.

In transition from a chef to a bus driver, Liu said that he found the meaning of life because of the appreciation and praise of passengers. As a bus driver, he earns less salary than as a chef but he’s glad to do what he’s interested. Liu said he feels very happy to drive the bus and ensure the safe journey of passengers.

"The current job is harder, but I feel at ease and worthwhile. This kind of work is also pleasant," said Liu, adding he enjoys every "thank you" from passengers and hopeshe will continue the job.
