Jiang Xiuyuan, from Xuzhou, has joined a journey to ride 2142 km of Sichuan-Tibet line, and has ridden from Chengdu to Lhasa.

The 62-year-old sports lover has been taking part in winter swimming for over 20 years, and enjoys riding during his spare time. Jiang once rode more than 250 kilometers, from Xuzhou to Lianyungang in one single day.

Together with a cycling enthusiast from Xuzhou, Jiang set about his riding trip to Lhasa.

"For long-time riding in the plateau area, no matter how good your stamina is, you have to rely on your willpower to insist," he said.

From the very beginning, Jiang said he believed that he could ride until the end.

Along the Sichuan-Tibet highway entering Tibet, the pair went over a number of steep mountains, which have more than 4,000 meters above sea level, and crossed several rapid rivers. The daily riding average for the cycling pair was more than 100 kilometers.

On August 1, Jiang and his friend arrived at the destination, Lhasa.

After a month of riding, Jiang Xiuyuan's weight reduced by 20 kilograms, and said that even though the riding was tired, the experience let him see a lot of scenery. He added that he enjoyed the pleasure of the trip and that it was worth the effort of hard riding.
