Nanjing cleans stinking riverway with water plants

Planting aquatic plants is a widely adopted biological method to improve river courses. These plants can absorb nitrogen, phosphorus and other pollutants in the water. Excessive growth of the plants may affect the river’s outlook to some extent, so a maintenance team scoops up some plants every day, which can be reused as fertilizers.
