World's first 1,800-ton overhead crane unveiled in Nantong

The world's first 1800-ton overhead crane independently developed by China met the public at a crane manufacturing base in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on July 5.

The crane, with a dead weight of 1,033 tons, boasts a loading capacity of up to 1,800 tons and a lifting range of 13-22.15m.

It will be used to lift the steel grider, maximumly 1,700 tons, for building the main channel of the cable-stayed Hutong (Shanghai-Nantong) Yangtze River Bridge, which is designed for both rail and highway traffic with the largest span in the world.
