The Liyun River, the earliest river section in China’s Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, is a 170-kilometer-long waterway that flows through Huai'an and Yangzhou city in Jiangsu province.

The Huai’an section of the Liyun River flows through the east and west sides of the city, and has a total length of 32 kilometers. The coast along the river has beautiful scenery and many cultural attractions, allowing the Liyun river to serve as a link between the old and new town areas in Huai’an.
