The Botanical Garden affiliated to Nantong University has successfully cultivated colored cotton and rice, Jiangsu media reported on Nov. 6.

The colored cotton at the Botanical Garden, introduced this year, is ready to be picked.

Compared with traditional white cotton, the colored cotton can significantly reduce the dyeing process. It is natural and can help deal with the environmental pollution. Currently, Nantong University has white, yellow, brown, light brown, green and red cottons. The blue cotton will be introduced next year and by then, the university will be able to produce the rainbow cotton with all the seven colors.

The garden also harvested red, green, black, purple and blue rice this year.
