The panel discussion of the 5th session of the 12th provincial people's congress was held on February 7. On the sidelines of the meeting, Gong Liang, curator of the Nanjing Museum, said in an interview that protecting the living status in ancient cities and promoting the use of museums is of special importance for inheriting historical and cultural heritages.

In ancient cities where the blocks are well preserved, we should pay special attention to maintaining the local residents' living status and the original outlook of the city, he said.

Gong Liang suggested that Jiangsu should raise the quality of museums and tap into the stories and historical and cultural connotations behind the exhibits. That will make people like to visit museums and experience the changes of times through historical stories, he added.
