Nanjing to build 1.5-hour transportation circle

The goal of achieving 1.5-hour transportation circle was proposed at the 13th Party Congress of CPC in Jiangsu Province by the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan Period.

Jiangsu will achieve the goal of building 1.5-hour transportation circle in 2019, said Liu Guangzhong, deputy to Jiangsu People's Congress, Party Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transport and Jiangsu Provincial Railway Office, said on Feb 6.

Shi Taifeng, governor of Jiangsu Province, said on report on the work of Jiangsu Provincial Government that Jiangsu will promote the development high-speed rail in northern Jiangsu, high-speed rail on the banks of the Yangtze River and related tunnels to build an efficient and fast comprehensive modern transportation system.

Liu Guangzhong said that the 1.5-hour transportation circle has reached seven cities while other five cities in middle and northern part of Jiangsu are in desperate need of high-speed rail.

The construction of railway connecting Lianyungang, Huai'an, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang, and railway linking Xuzhou, Suqian, Huai'an and Yancheng is in progress. In the future, the current railway network will be integrated with Nanjing-Qidong railway and Shanghai-Nantong railway. The high-speed railway network will make sure that every city in northern Jiangsu will have access to high-speed rail and people in these cities can reach Nanjing within 1.5 hours, said Liu.

When the railway network is completed, people in Liangyungang, Suqian and other cities can reach Nanjing in one hour.
