“We have offered over half of the engineering machineries used in construction of the stadiums, and around 80%” of the cranes and concrete machines.” Sheng Min, director of international development department of Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd. (XCMG), was full of proud.

There are as many as 2,000 plus machineries used in stadium construction for Rio Olympics, including over 1,000 earthwork machines, 300 road rollers, 500 cranes and 200 aerial platform vehicles.

The success of XCMG in Rio Olympics was attributed to its manufacture base in Brazil. The Brazilian government has expressly regulated that any company bidding for government projects must have manufacture base in Brazil. In June, 2014, the XCMG Brazilian Base was put into production in Pouse Alegre, Minas State. With a land area of 800,000㎡, the base could produce over 60 machineries of five categories.

According to Sheng Min, XCMG has been planning overseas market since early 2000s’. “We not only export products. We also export labor and service, and now capital.” said Sheng. XCMG has five international research centers, 31 overseas offices and 12 large manufacturing bases all over the world.

XCMG ranks the 9th in the global engineering machinery industry, and is the only Chinese company in the ranking.
