Jiangsu Open University opens

The opening ceremony of Jiangsu Open University was held in Nanjing on Nov 16.

Teachers and students from 36 branches in the province attended the activity in celebration of the school opening via a remote video system. After the ceremony, representatives of teachers gave lectures and answered questions from the students.

As a forerunner of enrollment after registration (a new mode for higher education enrollment in which the students can register universities they are interested and be enrolled according to the university’s policies without taking the entrance exam), a flexible and open learning system, a certification system of credits storage, transformation and accumulation of learning outcomes, the Jiangsu Open University intends to become a “credit bank” for lifelong learning in Jiangsu.

Based on Jiangsu Radio and Television University, the Jiangsu Open University owns seven colleges including the College of Economics and Management, College of Arts and Law, College of Science and Technology, College of Professional Farmers, College of Continuing Education, College of Community Education and College of Elderly Education. The university also has 18 secondary schools across the province.
