Tribute to Giovanni Cellini

Huang Jianhua, chairman of the Hong Kong Parkview Group, donated Dali's sculpture ("Tribute to Giovanni Cellini") to Nanjing University of the Arts (NUA) on Dec 8 as a tribute to NUA's centennial celebration.

This is the second Dali's work donated by Mr. Huang Jianhua to NUA after the first donation of Dali's "Poseidon" was made last year. Mr. Huang Jianhua is a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He has a passion for collecting art works and has acquired more than 40 pieces of Dali's sculptures from around the world.

The NUA is the only college and the fourth public place in China to have Dali's sculptures. The other locations are the Parkview in Hong Kong, the National Museum of China, and the Parkview Green of Beijing.

El Salvador Dali was a Spanish surrealist painter and print artist. He is considered as one of the three most representative artists of the twentieth century alongside Picasso and Matisse. The "Tribute to Giovanni Cellini" was completed by Dali in 1974 as a salute to Giovanni Cellini, the Italian sculptor and painter in Renaissance period.

Together with Dali's sculpture are also nine representative works of 9 famous domestic contemporary sculptors to be housed in NUA.
