Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge, which will open to traffic on Nov 25, will set five world records.

As the eighth highway bridge spanning the Yangtze River in Jiangsu, Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge is world’s first super-large-span suspension bridge with three towers and two spans.

The brand new structure of 2×1080 m super-large-span suspension bridge with three towers and two spans is the first one in the world.

In addition, the 200-meter-high middle tower of the bridge is a frame-shaped steel tower with vertically herringbone and horizontally gate-type design, in which 13,000 tons of steel are used.

Moreover, basis open caisson of the middle tower is 70 meters deep and the 3,100-meter-long W-shaped main cable as well as the two spanning suspension bridge with symmetrically and synchronized hoisted steel box girder also tops the world.

Stretching 62.09 kilometers in length, Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge connects three cities on the two sides of the river, linking up Gaogang District of Taizhou in the north, Yangzhong city in the middle, Zhenjiang city in the south and leads to Yangzhou city by way of Tangzhuang transportation hub and beltway of Changzhou in the west.

After the opening of Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge, it will take no more than 10 minutes to drive from the north to south of the river and almost half an hour is saved for driving from Taizhou to Zhenjiang or Changzhou.

Taizhou is the eighth and last city along the Yangtze River in Jiangsu that owns a bridge over the Yangtze River.
