9th Chinese (Changzhou) International Animation Art Festival Week to open on August 16

The 9th Chinese (Changzhou) International Animation Art Festival Week in 2012 jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government is scheduled to be held in Changzhou in east China's Jiangsu province from August 16 to 22.

This year's Animation Week is highlighted by 15 themed events, including the International Animation Fair, the International Animation Trade Fair, the Original Animation Works Competition, Cosplay exhibition and so on.

The main festival site will be set up in the nationally-renowned China Dinosaurs Park to host 400-plus invited special guests and the participating enterprises, totaling 1,000-plus attendees.

According to Fang Guoqiang, deputy mayor of Changzhou City, the "Golden Dinosaur" original animation works grand prix, serving as the highlight of the Animation Week, has so far collected 2,000-plus pieces of works, topping all previous contests. Among them, the overseas works account for 36 percent.

This year, the International Animation Fair will collaborate with such organizations as the Korean Animation Association, the Canadian Animation Association, the Jiangsu Film and Television Animation Association, and others, with the total estimated transaction amount at an increase of 30 points compared with that in last year and expected to exceed 5 billion yuan.

The International Animation Fair has also attracted a number of famous enterprises to participate in the event. The first participating group of Taiwanese enterprises will make their debut at the dedicated "Taiwan Pavilion" for exhibitions.

The "Chinese (Changzhou) International Animation Art Festival Week" has been held for eight consecutive years since 2004. It was upgraded to a national-class festival exhibition in 2010.
