Liu Shaoquan, a 68-year-old villager in Banzhuang Township of Lianyungang City, has been making moqibing, a kind of patterned pastry for nearly 40 years. Taking the traditional approach, he can only make 10 pastries in one day, each weighing 0.5 kg, and selling for 40 yuan (around $5.8). He hopes the tradition of making hand-made patterned pastry, and also its flavor, can be carried on.
