Suzhou Library wins library ‘Oscars’ award

The Little Migratory Birds, a service project by Suzhou Library, won the Presidential Citation for International Innovation at the American Library Association annual conference.

Suzhou Library launched the Little Migratory Birds project in May 2010 to help children of migrant workers in the city. It aims to cultivate their interest in reading and help them learn more about Suzhou culture during winter and summer vacations through various activities. From 2010 to 2017, the project organized 17 activities all together.

The Presidential Citation for International Innovation is known as the "Oscars" of the library community. Founded in 1876, the American Library Association is the oldest and largest library organization in the world, with more than 58,000 members from 110 countries.
