The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage inheritors on May 16. Among the 1082 inheritors, 46 are from Jiangsu Province.

There are 17 programs in intangible cultural heritage from Jiangsu that have seen their inheritors awarded the national honor for the first time, including those in Nanjing Baiju opera, Tiao Mafu dance from Rudong County, and the Three Knives of Yangzhou (the kitchen knife, pedicure knife and razor). Different from the past, this time the 46 inheritors tend to be younger, with the youngest Lu Aiqin, inheritor of the Maoshan song, who was born in 1973.

Jiangsu has 178 inheritors of national intangible cultural heritages, ranking among the top provinces in China.
