The report of the 19th CPC National Congress emphasized that “Cultural confidence represents a fundamental and profound force that sustains the development of a country and a nation.”

Xu Liming, a member of the National Committee of CPPCC and also director of Jiangsu Provincial Calligraphy Research Center, Nanjing University of the Arts, said it’s important to strengthen the quality of traditional cultural works, maintain a good quality, and allow outstanding culture to not only go global but also integrate locally.

In recent years, to promote the inheritance and development of Chinese culture, the CPC Central Committee and State Council have issued guidelines on preserving and developing excellent traditional culture. Many forms of cultural products, such as calligraphy, painting, drama, film and folk art, have been promoted internationally, giving a boost to the spread of traditional Chinese culture across the world.

“From the perspective of creation, the quality must be excellent, good enough to represent the essence of Chinese culture and express the beauty of Chinese art. Communication also needs to be creative. For example, a calligraphy exhibition needs providing background information translated professionally into a foreign language. ”

The driving force and source of cultural development center on people. Xu suggested increasing the cultivation of talents well-versed with traditional Chinese culture, especially the high-caliber talents and specialists with global perspectives.
