The blockhouses built in the Republic of China era in Nanjing were listed as immovable relics, Jiangsu’s media reported on Nov 20. These four blockhouses was an important part of the Purple Mountain defense in the Battle of Nanjing against Japanese invaders in 1937.

The blockhouse complex connects the Old Post Office Road in the east and Zhongshanmen Street in the south. Currently, there are one observatory, three light machine gunning stations and other cultural relics of the Battle of Nanjing.

Ding Jin, a Nanjing cultural relics protection volunteer, said that Nanjing needs a memorial park with the theme of Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the blockhouses built in the Republic of China era is a good candidate.
