The completion ceremony of the memorial to Dr. Robert Wilson was held in Arcadia, California of the United States, on Sunday morning, local time.

Born in Nanjing in 1906, Wilson spent his childhood in Nanjing until he was 16, when he returned to US for study in Princeton University. He returned to Nanjing with his wife after graduating from Harvard Medical School, and became a surgeon at the Gulou Hospital.

According to Wilson's daughter, Marjorie Wilson, her father, as a member of the International Red Cross Nanjing branch, initiated the International Safety Zone in Nanjing along with other foreigners during the Nanjing Massacre. Meanwhile, as the only surgeon at Gulou Hospital, he exerted every effort to save the injured soldiers and civilians.

The memorial's completion ceremony was jointly held by the American Federation of the Nanjing Massacre, Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, and the American United Church of Christ.
