Nanjing becomes China's first international city of peace

The 16th Historical Perception and Eastern Asia Peace Forum was jointly held on Saturday by the Institute of Modern History of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Research Institute of Nanjing Massacre History and International Peace in Nanjing. The event drew 110 experts and scholars from China, Japan and South Korea.

Zhang Jianjun, executive president of the Research Institute of Nanjing Massacre History and International Peace and curator of the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, announced in his speech that Nanjing has become the 169th international city of peace and the first city in China to join the International Cities of Peace.

The organization is the only association of peace cities in the world and is officially recognized by the UN. The association is committed to connecting, promoting and encouraging all cities that carry out peace activities in the world and realizing the dream of world peace.
