140 Huaiyang cuisine masters to compete in Huaian

As the origin of Huaiyang Cuisine, Huaian City plans to organize a master chef contest on April 18 and 19 to promote the distinctive cooking style’s development and innovation.

The contest will include three sections – hot dishes, Chinese snacks made of flour and mixed cold dishes – with 140 famed chefs invited to show off their skills.

From April 19 to 21, Huaian will also organize a display of Huaiyang Cuisine dishes including separate banquets made totally of fish, lamb and chicken, as well as food traditionally popular along the Grand Canal. Other specialties including the Chasan snack, Huaijiao wonton and mutton soup will be cooked and sold on the spot.

The city will also host a high-level seminar on April 19 on Huaiyang Cuisine development that will cover many topics including its history and innovative development, industrial production, business operation at scale and application of the Internet.
