China's railway system launched online food ordering services at 27 major stations operating high-speed trains on July 17.

Yangzhou Yechun Teahouse, a time-honored restaurant in Yangzhou, was one of the first to participate.

Haobang Yangzhou Yechun, a subsidiary of Yangzhou Yechun Teahouse, received its first order at around 10:00 am on July 17. By 1:00 pm, the ordered meal was sent onto a Fuzhou-Chengdu train during its stopover at Wuhan station. In less than three hours, the passenger had freshly cooked Yangzhou fried rice and sweet black pepper fish with black bean sauce.

Through cooperation with local enterprises in Wuhan, Yangzhou Yechun launched the service via 12306.com, China's state-run online train-ticket sales site. High-speed train passengers may enjoy traditional Yangzhou steamed stuffed buns and various Huaiyang style food by either dining in or ordering take-out via apps.

Currently, Yangzhou Yechun offers four combos, featuring steamed stuffed buns, sweet black pepper fish with black bean sauce, Jiangsu style pork trotters, and Yangzhou stewed meatballs.

In the future, Yangzhou Yechun will launch the service in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, allowing more high-speed rail passengers to enjoy tasty Huaiyang traditional dishes and dim sum.
