With the calendar having turned its pages to May, mulberries in Zhangjiagang have come into season, bringing back sweet juicy childhood memories.

Unlike the times when vast areas of mulberries were part of the beautiful landscape of late spring Zhangjiagang, the city now enjoys a smaller planting area, but the berries have a much better taste.

The mulberry plantation developed by Dai Jianjun at a humble corner in the city's Zhashang village is the best of its kind; it's also all-natural and pollution-free.

With the help of a gentle spring breeze and bright sunshine, bunches of mulberries enchant with glittering colors of red, dark purple and black, as if inviting us to pick and sample them at any time.

Aside from their sweet taste the berries also nourish the liver and kidney and help improve blood circulation; they also promote skin elasticity and firmness.

The picking season will be open until the end of May. Anyone interested can visit the Fumanyuan Ecological farm of Zhashang village, Yangshe town, Zhangjiagang city.
