In the run-up to World Stranger’s Day on May 20, students from the School of Journalism and Communication at Yangzhou University organized an activity named “A Letter to Strangers” that aims to spread warmth between strangers by sending hand-written letters to people outside the campus.

Zhou Lin, whose hometown is in Yunnan, felt so excited to receive the first letter from a stranger that he couldn’t help sharing his own experience. He recalled that he was once helped by a passerby with his broken bicycle chains and got home on time. “I really thank the passerby who helped me out and thank the organizers for the activity. I think I will do my best to give a hand to all people who are in need of any help,” he said.

“This activity aims to pass on the warmth from strangers,” said Xie Renyi, the organizer. “We all somehow once received help from strangers, but got no chance to pay it back. That’s why we have to do everything we can to offer help to people, even though we don’t know each other.”
