Taicang signs cooperation framework agreement with XJTLU

Taicang municipal government signed a cooperation framework agreement with Suzhou-based Xi’an Jiaotong - Liverpool University (XJTLU) on March 26, aiming to set a new Taicang model of integrated education.

Professor Xi Youmin, executive president of XJTLU, said Taicang’s integrated education will cooperate with enterprises and industries to establish an educational model that can nurture international high-end applied talents and prepare for possible challenges from artificial intelligence (AI) and robots in the future. It will explore the operation of international university and its campus in the future through entrepreneurship college. With innovation and the construction of entrepreneur community, it will develop effective interaction between universities, industries and society so as to promote innovation and the development of a modernized green society.

The program is to be located in the Taicang High-tech Zone, which plans to enroll students in 2019 and open campus to the public in 2020. It is estimated that the students number in 2025 will exceed 5,000.

After completion, the project will present an integrated platform centered on the “learning supermarket” and supported by “innovation workshops” and “research and development community”, on which enterprises will cooperate with industrial colleges, covering AI, robots, big data, health industry, entertainment, new materials and intelligent manufacturing.
