What will buildings in a city look like in 2042? Chitraj Bissoonauth (Mauritian) and Jingxiang Tan (Malaysian) from Suzhou-based Xian Jiaotong Liverpool University (XJTLU) may give you some tips.

For a future with unprecedented population growth, massive urbanization, tremendous changes in environment and society, and great improvement in science and technology, the two architecture-majoring post-graduates in XJTLU proposed a creative design for Shanghai that connects the city’s past and future.

Their design won the third prize in the 6th International Student Tall Building Design Competition held by Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

Themed at “Connecting the city: people, density & infrastructure”, the competition this year aims to collect students’ ideas on a world-wide scale to shed new light on the meaning and value of tall buildings in modern society.
