Two members of Global Health Action (GHA), a charity agency in the United States, visited Huai’an city, Jiangsu province on Nov 6, to carry out exchanges on health care projects for rural left-behind children.

The so-called rural left-behind children are children who are left to their carers, such as their grandparents, in their rural hometown when their parents go to work in cities. These children sometimes fail to receive adequate care for physical or financial reasons.

During their visit to Huai’an, the two GHA members visited the Anlanlu, Foxconn and Xuyang primary schools, and observed psychological health-related group activities for rural left-behind children at these schools to gain experience in psychological health assistance for left-behind children.

The two also visited some left-behind children’s families and listened to their carers on their living conditions, education and psychological health.
