The Changzhou Institute of Technology team has taken home first prize of the total score of vocational institutions at the 2017 Baja SAE China, held in Jining of Inner Mongolia’s Ulanqab city.

The event has been held for three consecutive years, and a total of 91 teams took part in this years’ event – 36 undergraduate groups, 48 vocational school groups, three high school teams and four enterprise teams. The scale of the competition teams for 2017 achieved the highest results so far.

Since 2015, when Changzhou Institute of Technology participated in Baja SAE China for the first time, the team has created three generations of racing cars. The team started to design and produce the vehicle for the 2017 event from December 2016, and completed the test car in May. Team member Liu Fangsai said, to compare with the last year's second-generation car, the third-generation had 105 upgrades in design and manufacturing, and reduced 50 kg from the cars weight.

During the eight month manufacturing and upgrade of the car, the team wrote a recorded text of more than 1,300 pages. Liu said the team also hoped to leave more reference for the competitors in next Baja SAE China.
